We host Sonia Bompastor’s side at the Joie Stadium in a 20:00 (UK) kick-off on Wednesday in the first leg of our last-eight clash.
Cushing was pleased with his side’s performance at Pride Park last weekend, but said they must have more belief in their ability if they’re to turn that into trophies.
“There have been some incredible results this season. I think the players know they’re a good team,” he said in Tuesday’s press conference.
City v Chelsea | Match preview
“They beat Barcelona here, beat Arsenal to get the final we just played. When we played so well in the first half we should be 1-1 at least and then when it is 1-1 we had the best chance after that.
“The team know they are good but we need the real belief to win trophies. When you see that, they will just go on and consistently win.
“I actually think Saturday’s result is fuel for this team. You can see the ambition they have in training.”
