The Blues travel to the Seagulls on Sunday 30 April at 14:00 (UK) as we resume our Champions League qualification pursuit in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
We enter the meeting at Broadfield Stadium aiming to bounce back from our European exit to Chelsea in the quarter-finals last time out.
In our way of three precious points, though, are a Brighton side who harbour ambitions of recording their highest-ever top-flight finish with the south coast outfit currently sat fifth in the table, one place behind City.
And Cushing believes it’ll be an intriguing encounter this weekend as we face recognisable faces within the Seagulls’ ranks.
“I think it’s interesting because the coach [Dario Vidosic] has come out of our [City Football Group] system [at Melbourne City Women],” he explained.

“We sort of know his thinking and how he wants to coach. When I watch the team, I see a team that is really well coached.
“They’re good with the ball and they’ll try to dominate the ball. They’re a team in that 3-4-3 who will want try to move us about and get their real quality.
“We’re familiar with Nikita [Parris] and Fran [Kirby] is someone who, in my previous tenure, punished me a lot in big games when we played Chelsea.
“They’re a good team, but we’re a good team as well and we’ll prepare for a difficult game. Getting three points main thing for us.”
