Gareth Taylor and Kerstin Casparij look ahead to the new season in a special audio only episode of the official Man City Podcast.

Filmed as part of an annual Partner Forum event at Co-op Live, the City boss and our Dutch international defender preview what’s sure to be a memorable year in the WSL.

Our opening league fixture sees us face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday 22 September, with kick-off set for 12:30 (UK).

A battle between two of the pre-season title favourites, it promises to be a thrilling occasion, and one that City are relishing.

Taylor’s side began the competitive campaign with an imperious 5-0 win over Paris FC in the first leg of our UEFA Champions League qualifier, having sharpened up with a series of friendlies over the summer.

And the pair reflect on that pre-season period, which saw us travel to Perth, Australia, to face Leicester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

Both also chat about our new recruits this summer and how swiftly they’ve settled into life at City, as well as a brief reflection on last season’s performances.

Indeed, Taylor’s side ultimately missed out on the title on goal difference, but equalled our best-ever points tally and broke the record for the longest winning streak across a single season in WSL history.

Two of those victories came against Manchester United, and Casparij reflects on those derby displays and why keeping the city blue is so important to her.
