Gareth Taylor claims City have to be flawless for the rest of the season following our home loss against Tottenham Hotspur.

City faced a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Rehanne Skinner’s side despite securing an early goal from Lauren Hemp in the sixth minute. This frustrating result therefore denied City their first home win of the season in the Women’s Super League.

Following on from the side’s Champions League exit last week, Taylor rues that missed chances and play in the final third are to blame for City’s defeat at home to the North London side. Reflecting on this performance at the Academy Stadium and the mood in the changing rooms, Taylor also asserts that we can’t afford to lose any more points if we are to finish towards the top of the table.

“I spoke to the players on the pitch and it’s never nice when this situation happens,” he said

“It’s come on the back of another negative and we never seem to go into an international break or period where the group is split up and you want to go in with a positive.

“Still at 1-1 I thought that the game was there for us, and we had that horrible situation that ended up losing us the game.

“We are proud of that record from 2018. [City were unbeaten at home in 33 matches].

“It’s not ideal and we don’t want to drop points at home. We need to be pretty flawless for the rest of the season.”
