It was a difficult start to the campaign for Gareth Taylor‘s side, with defeats to Real Madrid, Aston Villa and Chelsea seeing us knocked out of the Champions League and dealt an early setback in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
A new-look side needed time to gel, and a win over Leicester City in our first home match of the campaign provided the perfect platform for that to happen.

Yui Hasegawa‘s stunning strike on debut helped the hosts claim a 4-0 win and, for the rest of 2022, City never looked back.
An incredible nine-match winning run followed, with 28 goals scored and just three conceded.
