Rose Lavelle says couldn't be happier to have marked her full City debut with her first goal.

The World Cup winner levelled the score at the Academy Stadium in Wednesday’s Continental Cup triumph over Everton, flicking Alex Greenwood‘s corner home at the near post.

The game then swung in the hosts’ favour, as Chloe Kelly netted against her former club before Jess Park sealed the victory in injury time.

Ever modest, United States star Lavelle played down her strike but expressed her delight to have opened her City account.

“It’s good,” she smiled, “and awesome to get a win.

“I feel like we put in a good shift and to score my first goal is fun!

“Alex played a really good ball in and I went near post. I don’t know how it went in - I feel like it banged my thigh seven times! - but a goal is a goal!

“It’s been heavy couple of weeks and to get a result is really exciting.”
