Sam Mewis said she already felt right at home in Manchester after marking her City debut with a goal and two assists in our 4-1 pre-season friendly win over Everton.

The American World Cup winner, who joined the Club earlier this month, had only undertaken her first training session with her new team mates on Saturday but wasted no time in making an instant impact.

As well as finding the target, she also provided assists for Lauren Hemp and Steph Houghton. With Gemma Bonner also on target it was the perfect way to wrap up preparations ahead of next weekend’s Community Shield clash with Chelsea.

“It’s been busy but it feels like I’ve been here for a couple of weeks as I feel like I already know everyone, and all the girls and staff have all been so helpful,” Mewis reflected.

“Today was great. I feel like I’ve learnt a lot but there is a lot more to learn – I’m really excited going into the new season – and for more of the proper Manchester weather!”
