One of our first signings as a professional outfit back in January 2014, Steph Houghton is one of City’s longest-serving players.

Seven years later, having lifted seven trophies in sky blue, she stands as captain for Club and country, our first City Centurion and the FA Women’s Super League’s highest appearance maker.

As we celebrate seven years of trophy-laden success upon the anniversary of the Club’s official re-launch in January 2014, the players have been looking back on some of their favourite moments.

In the second of our week-long series, the skipper recalls our first league title win back in 2016.

Having clinched a crucial 1-0 triumph at Arsenal, City welcomed reigning Champions Chelsea to the Academy Stadium in the knowledge a win or draw would clinch the crown.

The Londoners had pipped Nick Cushing’s side to the trophy by just two points the previous year, while City had denied Emma Hayes’ side league glory on the final day in 2014!

With plenty at stake and a firm rivalry emerging, a record crowd turned out to cheer the home side on, on a day in which City were simply a class above their counterparts.
