A brief look back at our Barclays Women's Super League defeat at Everton.

Mary Fowler‘s late penalty wasn’t enough to prevent a slender loss on Merseyside, with first half goals from Lucy Hope and Honoka Hayashi proving the difference.

City enjoyed the lion’s share of possession but the hosts defended resolutely and took the lead when Hope headed home on 30 minutes.

We found ourselves two behind when Hayashi’s deflected effort squeezed just past Keating, but Taylor’s side regrouped after a tactical switch at the break.

Despite piling on the pressure it took until the 89th minute for City to finally get ourselves on the scoresheet when Fowler powered home from the spot, but the equaliser proved elusive despite our best efforts.

It means the Blues fell to just our second defeat of the season in all competitions, and now sit six points off league leaders Chelsea.
