A second trip to Brisbane Road in less than a month beckoned for City but this time in the League Cup.
City dominated possession for the opening half hour but with no reward as Gareth Taylor‘s side found it tricky to penetrate Spurs’ defensive line after Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s chance in the opening few minutes.

And it was an unlikely name that gave City the lead.
Yui Hasegawa‘s thumping effort from the edge of the box flew over Barbora Votikova’s head, off the cross bar and into the back of the net to give City the advantage.
Attempts at goal in the second half from Lauren Hemp, Mary Fowler and Laura Coombs were unfortunate not to double City’s lead in a tight affair.
With the hosts struggling to string attacks together in the face of City’s cohesive and unbreakable defensive line, we were able to hold out for the 1-0 win and a place in the competition’s final four.
