Steph Houghton says she’s excited to be back at Manchester City and is relishing the opportunity to potentially explore some new passions away from the pitch.

Our legendary former captain has been appointed as a Project Officer and our first-ever female Ambassador following her retirement at the end of last season.

As a Project Officer, she will gain valuable experience across various footballing departments – beginning with the insights team – while her ambassadorial role makes her an official representative of the Club alongside the likes of Mike Summerbee, Joleon Lescott and Shaun Wright-Phillips.

And Houghton believes she’s in the best possible organisation to develop her skills in a variety of areas.

“For me as a player I always liked to be challenged, and I see this as a different challenge in a different capacity,” she explained.

“I think I have the drive to go as far as I possibly can and to be here at the Club and learning off the best people, I’m in a perfect situation.

“I’m with football insights at the moment.

“To be part of that group and learn how we build squads and look at different players to bring here, there’s so many factors in using data to back that up, I didn’t think I’d be a data person but I think I really see the value in how we make decisions here.”
