Released this Friday, Rise provides a unique fly-on-the-wall view of Gareth Taylor’s side’s 2022/23 campaign, including interviews with members of the squad and management team alike.
The City Studios production documents a thrilling Barclays Women’s Super League season where the race for the title and European places went down to the wire.
For Houghton, she’s eagerly anticipating its publish on CITY+ and says it’s important to reflect on all the hard work that is put into a season.
“It [having cameras following us around] was really good,” she told our Matchday Live broadcast for City’s trip to Newcastle.
“I think that, as women’s players, we’ve been wanting to showcase what we do on a daily basis. I can’t wait to watch it.
“[The team spirit] is really special and that’s why I’m so desperate to win because I think it makes it even more special when you go on to win something together.
“We’ve got a group that first and foremost want to do as well as they possibly can for the Club and they have their own ambitions but we make each other better which is a good thing.
“I look at our squad now and we’ve got the game on Sunday and you could pick anyone from the 22 to be able to play Sunday and that’s how we want to make it.
“We want to make it competitive but we have fun in the meantime. We won big games last year against Arsenal and Chelsea but it’s nice for the cameras to follow the week leading into that day.
“It’s how your attitude is throughout the week and how we get together to say ‘nobody is beating us at home’ and it’s good to be part of that.
“For me as an older player who’s been here for 10 years it’s nice to see the journey we’ve been on, but for sure this group are really special and hopefully we can go on and do something really good this season.”
