Steph Houghton was full of praise for teammate Georgia Stanway after the latter netted her 50th City goal in a 2-1 Champions League win over Goteborg.

Stanway scored the first of two City goals, grabbing an equaliser just before half-time after the hosts took an early lead.

Sam Mewis then netted the winner 15 minutes from time to secure the win in Sweden, giving us a slender advantage going into next week’s second leg in Manchester.

After the win, captain Houghton was full of pride for her City, and England teammate reaching the milestone.

Georgia Stanway has been here for a long time and she is the future of our club,” she said.

“To see her get the goal made me really proud of her and she’s got so much more to come.”
