Houghton called time on her magnificent career this summer, hanging up her boots after eight major honours in the blue of City – one WSL title, three Women’s FA Cups and four WSL Cups.
Her last match came on the final day of the 2023/24 WSL campaign against Aston Villa with City beating the claret and blues 2-1 at Villa Park.
She came on for Alanna Kennedy, taking the captain’s armband for the final 24 minutes in the Midlands, before receiving an emotional send-off by the City faithful who had made the trip to see her off.
