The second episode of our new City Studios series following the Blues' five Japanese players is out now.

Tokyo to Manchester follows the collective journeys of Yui Hasegawa, Ayaka Yamashita, Aoba Fujino, Risa Shimizu and Aemu Oyama across 2024/25.

With an exciting young squad, Japan are one of the leading lights in world football, and City have reaped the benefit of that growth on and off the pitch.

In the first episode, Ayaka, Aoba and Risa all discussed their reasons for joining City and their early impressions of life in Manchester.

But signing for the Club and then settling into your new surroundings is a much longer process, and that’s explored in the second instalment of Tokyo to Manchester.

Going on a shoot in the city centre alongside our club photographers, the players chat about how they’ve each helped one another settle in Manchester, and also how they’ve overcome the challenge of a new language.

For Ayaka in particular, the fact that fellow goalkeeper Katie Startup is learning to speak Japanese has been a massive help, and has also made adapting to City on the pitch an easier process.

Aoba had also enjoyed an excellent start to life at the Blues, but she says her goal in a UEFA Champions League win was a major milestone.
