Six members of Gareth Taylor‘s squad flew out to Australia and New Zealand to represent the Lionesses this summer.
Ellie Roebuck, Alex Greenwood, Lauren Hemp and Chloe Kelly were all part of Sarina Wiegman’s side who were crowned European champions in 2022, while Laura Coombs and Esme Morgan sampled their first major tournament experience.
England went into the World Cup as one of the favourites and they made good on that potential by reaching the final for the first time in their history.

They would miss out on football’s ultimate prize by a single goal against Spain, but our six City stars more than played their part in a memorable summer of football.
Indeed, Greenwood would start all seven of the Lionesses’ matches, Hemp would finish as her nation’s joint top scorer and Kelly would smash home a winning penalty in a Round of 16 triumph over Nigeria.
But now attentions are back on the 2023/24 season, with City’s opener against West Ham United just over one month away.
Ahead of the new campaign, the players were once again put through their paces at the CFA as preparations ramp up for Gareth Taylor‘s side.
Australia’s Mary Fowler and Sweden’s Filippa Angeldahl joined the Lionesses out on the grass as they also continue their pre-season preparations for the upcoming season.
