City had to settle for a point on the road after some late heartbreak in the first Manchester derby of the campaign.
On what was her 100th WSL appearance, Bunny Shaw was eager to make an impact in such an important match.
The dominant striker was in a tough battle all match, especially with United captain Maya Le Tissier, but she did finally get her reward in the second half.
Shaw managed to pin Dominique Janssen back in the penalty area, and before the Dutch defender could even think, she’d been spun, and the ball was in the back of the net following a thunderous strike.
However, it wasn’t to be another win for the reigning WSL champions, with United striking back in the 89th minute.
It was Shaw who was back defending in her own box as she looked to head away a long ball, but Elisabeth Terland reacted quickly and slammed home to ensure the points would be shared.
