Miedema and Roord are great friends off the pitch and teammates in the Netherlands national squad, having also played alongside each other at Arsenal.

“I definitely spoke with Jill about everything, she really enjoys it,” said Miedema.
“If Jill enjoys it, it must be a good place. That made the choice a lot easier.
“Me and Jill have a very similar mindset in football, we both want to play football, we both want to feel appreciated, and she said it’s really good here.
“I’m quite fortunate because I do know my two Dutchies here and I do know a lot of the English girls already.
“Because I’ve been in England so long, I feel like – although I might not know the girls personally – I’ve been around so long we’ve seen each other so many times. I’m really excited to be a part of that team and get to know everyone.”
