Yui Hasegawa has revealed City’s style of play was at the heart of her decision to extend her stay at the Club.

The Japan international has penned a new contract at the Joie Stadium which will keep her in Manchester until 2027.

Since joining Gareth Taylor’s side in the summer of 2022, she has established herself as a vital cog in our engine room while becoming one of world football’s finest operators.

Usually sitting at the base of the Blues’ midfield, she is an integral part of the team which is fighting on three fronts this term as we relentlessly compete for the Barclays Women’s Super League title, FA Cup and Continental Cup.

And Hasegawa explained City’s system, coupled with the opportunity to fight for major honours made her choice an easy one.

“I am extremely happy. I couldn’t be happier,” she declared.

“One of the biggest reasons [I’ve extended] is the football style. I love our style. I want to win the league, Champions League and Cup, that’s why I decided to stay here.

“We’ve improved this year and we have built up a lot. I’m so excited because we have a chance to win the league and the cup. I really want to win the league.

“I want to play in the Champions League and I want to win it with City.

“The people are nice, the football is good, I’m so happy to be here!”
