City u18s travel to Sunderland on Saturday morning looking for their first win of the new season after recording a thrilling last-gasp draw with West Brom last week.

The young Blues rescued a point with virtually the last kick of the game after coming back from 4-1 down and seeing a man sent off in their league opener against the Baggies.

Jason Wilcox will be hoping his side can go one better in the North East, where they face a Sunderland outfit looking to get their first points on the board after suffering a 3-0 loss away to Chelsea last weekend.

However, the Black Cats should provide a stern test for the boy Blues – they topped National Group 1 last season to reach the semi-final stage of the Barclays u18 Premier League, where they narrowly lost out to eventual champions Fulham.

Daniel Lema and Brandon Barker will both be hoping to continue their goal-scoring form from last time out, but the Blues will be without Jack Byrne after the Ireland youth international’s red card.

Kick off is at 11am at the Academy of Light (SR6 7UN). We’ll bring you updates on twitter and a full match report on mcfc.co.uk
