City u18s travel to Middlesbrough on Saturday aiming to go top of the league.

The young Blues have been turning on the style in recent weeks and have won the last six games on the bounce, meaning a victory over the Teessiders will guarantee top spot.

A 4-1 victory over Everton last weekend, courtesy of goals from Ashley Smith-Brown, Thierry Ambrose, Jorge Intima and Denzeil Boadu, took them to within a point of the Toffees at the summit of the u18 Premier League North Division.

Jason Wilcox’s men have a game in hand on Everton and will want to make it count with competition for places hotting up – only the top two teams qualify for the playoffs at the end of the season.

City are in fine goalscoring form, netting 24 times in six matches and striker Thierry Ambrose has four goals in his last two outings.

Meanwhile Boro claimed three points last time out with a 1-0 win against Manchester United, but lost their previous two fixtures to Wolves and Sunderland.

The two sides met on four occasions last term, with City coming home victorious on both trips to the North East while the spoils were shared in each of the two clashes at Platt Lane.

Kick off is at 1pm at Rockcliffe Park (DL2 2DU). We’ll have goal updates on twitter as well as a full match report on mcfc.co.uk
