City U18s take on Middlesbrough at Platt Lane on Saturday looking to extend their unbeaten league run to five games.

The two teams were due to face each other at Boro’s Rockcliffe Park two weeks ago but the fixture fell victim to a waterlogged pitch.

As a result, the last time the young Blues took on Saturday’s opponents was at Platt Lane last October, when captain Louis Hutton rescued a point with a late free kick.

Although the young Blues will have been disappointed with a draw in last week’s encounter with Norwich thanks to a late Canaries equaliser, Adam Sadler’s men are in good form and have not lost in the league since February 9.

Meanwhile Angus Gunn, Kean Bryan and Ashley Smith-Brown joined up with the England U17 squad during the week, and the Blues trio will all be hoping to be part of the side that takes on Portugal in a crucial U17 European Championship qualifier on Saturday night.

Middlesbrough are yet to register a win in 2013, but have chalked up three draws, including a creditable 1-1 away at Arsenal last weekend.

Kick off is at 12.30pm and it is free come down and support the young Blues.
