Having already qualified for the play-offs last week with five games to spare, the Blues currently lie top of the U18 Premier League North and go into the clash on the back of a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Wolves.
A brace from Denzeil Boadu and a Thierry Ambrose strike secured the win and Jason Wilcox’s side will want to continue their fine goalscoring form as they bid to finish at the division’s summit before attempting to end the season as national champions.
There is certainly incentive to finish top of the regional table as that would mean the Blues would ensure a home tie at the Etihad Stadium in the next stage, whilst avoiding the winners of the Southern League.
Saturday’s clash represents the first occasion City and Norwich have met this season, although the Blues took four points from the Canaries during the last campaign.
Following a 1-1 draw at Platt Lane, Wilcox’s side earned a thumping 4-1 win in Norwich, recapturing their winning form in the process.
Heading into this encounter, the Canaries are in indifferent form, having won just once in their last five games. Their previous two encounters have both ended in 1-1 draws and the Norfolk outfit sit seventh in the Southern League.
With 13 goals in their last five games and having been challenged by Wilcox to gain maximum points from their remaining matches, City will certainly be looking to return to Manchester tomorrow afternoon with all three points.
Goal-machine Ambrose will also be looking to write his name onto the scoresheet once more. The striker has already notched up 19 goals so far but has set himself a target of 25 strikes before the end of the season.
Kick off is at 11am at Colney Training Centre, Norwich, NR4 7TS. We’ll have updates on Twitter, along with a match report on mcfc.co.uk after full-time.
