City u18s will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday night.

It promises to be a thrilling clash, as the tie has pitted the Blues, top of the u18 Premier League North Division, against Fulham, who are the leaders of the Southern Division.

when they were beaten 5-2 to record their first defeat in any competition since last September.

City will be seeking to recapture the scintillating attacking form which has yielded 64 goals in all competitions so far this term.

To get to the fifth round, the boy Blues eased past Doncaster 4-0 before overcoming a resilient Hereford side in extra time, thanks to goals from Thierry Ambrose.

Ambrose is thoroughly enjoying his first exposure to the FA Youth Cup, and the Frenchman has scored three times in two appearances in the competition to date.

Meanwhile, Fulham knocked out Queens Park Rangers before defeating a strong Tottenham side 3-2 in the fourth round, with striker Patrick Roberts scoring a hat-trick.

City have already faced the Cottagers in the league this season, and could consider themselves desperately unlucky to narrowly lose out in a seven goal thriller in West London back in September.

However, since then the young Blues have lost just three times and many members of the squad have been rewarded for their strong performances with call ups to Patrick Vieira’s u19 UEFA Youth League side.

Kick off is at 7pm at Boundary Park, Oldham (OL1 2PA). We’ll have updates on twitter, as well as a full match report on mcfc.co.uk after full time.
