City U18s host Newcastle on Saturday in the final game of the Premier Academy League season.

After last weekend’s title-winning heroics, accomplished with a stunning 4-0 win away to Chelsea and Everton’s failure to win at Tottenham, Jason Wilcox’s side clinched the North Division crown in style.

A brace from Kean Bryan plus goals from Thierry Ambrose and Pablo Maffeo helped the Blues to the three points in the capital, which also secured a home draw for the resulting play-off semi-final.

Rewarded for their recent exploits for the U18s, a number of academy stars made the step up to the Elite Development Squad for their defeat to Chelsea in the U21 play-off semi-final on Thursday night.

Ambrose and Angelino both made substitute appearances, with the former setting up the Blues’ equaliser. Bryan and goalkeeper Billy O’Brien also featured on bench.

Newcastle go into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat away to Norwich, whilst City will be seeking their fifth successive win and ninth consecutive game without defeat.

In the reverse fixture back in October, City ran out 6-0 winners thanks to goals from six different scorers - Daniel Lema, Jorge Intima, Denziel Boadu, Bryan, Brandon Barker and Ambrose.

The Blues will certainly hope for a repeat of that scoreline, as they continue to build-up momentum ahead of next week’s crucial play-off semi-final against West Ham. Fixture information for that clash is yet to be released but when it arrives, we’ll have it right here on mcfc.co.uk.

Kick-off is at 1pm at Platt Lane, Yew Tree Road, M14 7UU. We’ll have live updates on Twitter and a full match report on the website shortly after full-time.
