City youngster Will Patching was on the scoresheet in an impressive 3-1 win over France to help England U17s to a third-straight Group 4 victory, and cement the young lions’ place in the Elite Round of Qualifiers ahead of next spring’s U17 European Championships.

Patching put away a great free kick to double England’s lead and ensure John Peacock’s side remained unbeaten in the competition and quality as group leaders.

The City Academy’s two other England representatives; 15 year-old Lukas Nmecha who scored the only goal against Macedonia on Monday started the game on the bench and replaced Patching after 76 minutes, whereas Cameron Humphreys who played the full 90 minutes against Cyprus missed-out through suspension.

Speaking of his winning goal earlier in the week, Nmecha had this to say:

“It was a good feeling, and I’m just pleased that we got the three points to qualify.

“It was quite hard out there, and I’ve never experienced that before. There was a bit of pinching and standing on toes going on, but we kept our discipline and got the result which is the most important thing.”

The trio of City starlets have shined whilst on duty and can look forward to an exciting tournament next year.

Elsewhere, it’s been an equally successful week for Dutch duo Rodney Kongolo and Javairo Dilrosun, the City Academy pair have played their part in Holland U17s qualification who, like England, take a 100% record into the next round following wins over Finland, Malta and Serbia.
