The striker’s three goals in Friday’s 6-1 victory over Wolves helped to extend the unbeaten run in the domestic competition to ten matches.
However, Hardy insists City still have a long way to go if they are to meet their targets for the season.
He said: “We’ve got to keep doing what we’re doing now. At the start of the season we set a target to stay undefeated for as long as possible and it’s working so far.
“We’re doing everything right at the moment so now we’ve got to keep that momentum.”
Jadon Sancho and Lorenzo Gonzalez both started the match on the bench as City demonstrated their strength in depth.
For Hardy, who has started the season in prolific form, it’s a sign that he must maintain his level if he is to be picked every week.
“With the players we’ve got you have to keep performing well in order to keep your place in the team. Everyone in the squad is a great player but I’m doing all I can to help the team,” he said.
Despite his three clinical close range finishes, the 18-year-old insisted it wasn’t a one-man show.
He said: “It was all down to Luke Bolton really. I know that he likes a cross so I’ve just got to get in the box when he has the ball. My goals were all from close range because I know that puts a brilliant cross in.
Although City dominated the early stages, Wolves drew level in the 22nd minute after a swift break but Hardy insists City weren’t fazed by the goal.
He said: “We knew with the players that we’ve got we could get a goal at any time so we weren’t worried about that. They had dropped off us quite early on so we knew that we would get more chances to score.
“We’re used to playing against physical sides. The likes of Newcastle and Blackburn have already given us that challenge. It’s all about us staying calm and trusting what we can do on the ball.”
