Despite a run of nine matches unbeaten so far in the U18 Premier League, City are refusing to get carried away.

That’s the view of Spanish defensive midfielder Iker Pozo ahead of City’s latest test against Wolves on Friday morning.

The 16-year-old, brother of former City youngster Jose Angel Pozo, has become a fixture in the side in recent weeks thanks to his commitment and focus in and out of possession.

After five wins in a row, including last week’s demolition of Middlesbrough, Pozo expects his teammates to retain their concentration against Wolves, who sit second bottom of the north group.

He said: “We’ve got a really strong team and a focused group, even when the subs come on our level doesn’t drop. We’ve gone unbeaten so far and we just want to keep doing as well as we can.

“Even when you play smaller teams you need to keep exactly the same standards because you know they will work hard.

“We could be unbeaten this season if we keep playing the same way but we must stay focused in every single match.”

Despite only turning 16 in August, Iker is already thinking of how the Club’s philosophy can help him progress through the ranks at the City Football Academy.

“When you move up you’ve still got the same picture in your head so if you can be ready,” he said.

“Training sessions and plans are very similar at every level so there shouldn’t be too much you have to worry about when moving up.”
