Manchester City U15s Head Coach Mark Kennedy believes his side laid down a marker with their style of play during Tuesday night’s 9-0 defeat of Manchester United.

Despite such an emphatic result against local rivals, that included a hat-trick for central defender Taylor Bellis, Kennedy insists the manner of the side’s passing play was what most impressed him.

He said: “The one thing we were all delighted with wasn’t the result or the number of goals, it was the style of our play.

“If we had played in pink jerseys with blue spots on the other side of the world, you still would have known that was a Manchester City team.

“I don’t care about who we were playing as we have to go into every game knowing it’s just another opportunity to play good football.”

Having already lifted the Premier League International Cup so far this season, it’s proving to be a memorable year for Manchester City’s youngsters.

However, Kennedy insists this is just the start of the achievements for his talented squad.

“I only came in July but we’ve been working hard to implement everything we can for this group. I was immediately impressed with the group anyway but since then they have all worked hard,” said Kennedy.

“It’s been a professional effort so far and this group have a special opportunity going forward. They’re an incredibly grounded group who just keep getting better.”
