Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has praised the attitude of his teammates after their 2-2 with Manchester United in the U18 Premier League.

Foden scored City’s second equaliser of the afternoon in the final ten minutes after Brahim Diaz had already scored for Lee Carsley’s side at Carrington.

City have now gone 13 matches unbeaten in the Premier League and Foden believes to fight back in this manner shows the mind-set of the team.

He said: “We reacted well to going behind and I thought we showed great character to come back into the game. That winning mentality is something that this team has a lot of and we showed a lot of passion.

“It was a great result for us and we’re still sitting top so we’re really happy going into next week.”

After Foden had scored in the closing moments, City went in search of the winner against their local rivals and fellow challengers for the title.

Although they couldn’t find the winner, the point ensures City remain in control of the north group.

Foden said: “They just kept kicking it long and we knew that if we kept the pressure up we could find a goal. This team always believes we can score.

“We didn’t find the goal but we’re happy we were able to put so much pressure on them.”

Foden and his teammates will face Blackburn Rovers on the 10 December at the City Football Academy.
