City U18s winger Luke Bolton has warned fans they won’t want to miss the attacking football on show when City face Derby this weekend.

City come up against the Rams at the Academy Stadium on Saturday hoping to protect their unbeaten record so far this season.

After big victories against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, City sit second in the U18 Premier League table and will be looking to turn on the style again just hours before Pep Guardiola’s first team face Everton.

The attacking trio of Bolton, Jadon Sancho and Joe Hardy have been lethal so far and Bolton hopes to continue that this weekend.

Bolton said: “Fans should come to watch because we play exciting football and hopefully we are the future of the club.

“In terms of our development, it’s good to play in front of fans because we’re used to bigger crowds and being in the stadium ahead of the important FA Youth Cup games to come.

“It will also help if we get moved up at any stage so we’re comfortable with the surroundings and the atmosphere that fans bring.”

In terms of the challenge Derby are likely to pose, Bolton knows he and his teammates will have to be up for a battle.

“I expect a tough, physical game. They’ll be trying to test us early and rough us up a bit so that we don’t get settled and start playing the ball around,” said the 16-year-old.

“If we can do that with the quality we have then we’ll be favourites. We all know it will be a tough game though.”

The Blues are in a strong position in the Premier League and with the FA Youth Cup fast approaching, Bolton believes they should be looking to win every game.

“We’re a positive group and we want to be the best so we’re targeting success in every tournament.

“The league is week in, week out so we have to keep our focus throughout the season if we want to be champions.

“If we keep performing the way we are then I think every team in the country will struggle to keep up with us but it’s about making sure we work hard.”
