Rabbi Matondo is feeling confident ahead of Manchester City’s FA Youth Cup clash with Plymouth Argyle.

City are set to travel to Home Park on Thursday evening as the Under 18s face the Pilgrims in the third round proper of the competition.

Last season, the Blues reached the finals but finished as runners up to Chelsea who secured a 6-2 victory on aggregate.

17-year-old Matondo is in good spirits as him and his team mates prepare to embark on their journey in the competition.

“I think with the way we’ve been this season – working hard off the ball and hard in training - I think we can go far in the Youth Cup,” Matondo explained to ManCity.com. “Hopefully we will get the result we want against Plymouth as it’s going to be tough.

“It’s going to be a hard game as maybe they’ll sit off or maybe they’ll press us, but hopefully when we find our feet we will get the win.”

The Welshman has featured for both the Under 18 and EDS sides this season, starting big games against the likes of Arsenal and Napoli in the Premier League 2 and the UEFA Youth League.

“I’m happy with the way I’m going now,” the winger added. “Every game and every training session I look to go up and I want to improve every single day.

“I’m happy to be with the Under 23s and start big games as well.

“So I’m really happy with how things are going.”

City face Plymouth Argyle on Thursday 14 December away at Home Park, kick-off at 7pm (GMT).
