England fell to a 1-0 defeat against Portugal in their first match of the tournament with City’s U16 goalkeeper Curtis Anderson and midfielder Taylor Richards both in the starting eleven before U18s captain Joel Latibeaudiere came on during the second half.
They followed that up with a 3-2 victory over Germany on Sunday in which U18 stars Latibeaudiere, Phil Foden and Jadon Sancho all started. Sancho and Foden continued their excellent form - that has helped City top the U18 Premier League - with England’s first two goals.
Sancho and Latibeaudiere played key roles in England’s second victory, a 1-0 win over the Netherlands. Latibeaudiere captained the side and Sancho made the assist for Middlesbrough’s Stephen Walker to score the winner and seal second place.
Good 1-0 win against Netherlands to end the tournament, great performance from the team. Happy to have been captain also ⚽️ @England
