Hat-trick hero Lukas Nmecha praised the quality of his teammates, following Man City’s 6-0 FA Youth Cup win over Stoke.

The forward bagged a treble, helping the Blues to step a foot in the final, with his seventh goal in the competition this year.

Naturally delighted with his goal return, the forward hailed the creativity of those around him.

“We’ve obviously got an amazing team,” he purred. “Of course, we had a good team last year but we did not attack as much as this team.

“Everyone is the same too – there are no players that think they are bigger than the others and we have each others’ backs.

“We encourage each other to perform better and we lift each other up – that’s why we’re such a good team.”

Reflecting on his individual display, he continued: “They sat back at the beginning and I just knew to be patient.

“I had to stay up top, as high as I could, to push them back and when I got my chances, I took them.

“The hat-trick goal was my favourite. I don’t usually like using my left foot often but I just saw it and swung for it!”

With City having fallen at the final hurdle previously, Nmecha added his side have extra motivation to succeed in the FA Youth Cup this year – and they want revenge.

“We have to go for the Youth Cup now,” he stated.

“I haven’t been involved with the U18s that much because I’ve been playing with the U23s but City have dominated everyone.

“If we beat Stoke, we want Chelsea to get through to the final so we can prove we are the best team!”

Nmecha also thanked the fans for their support – at the Academy Stadium and on Facebook Live.

“We got a massive crowd and that gives us a lift,” he said. “The fans make so much noise when we score and they get behind us when we need them.

“It was the best crowd we have had in a while. Hopefully, we’ll have that again.”
