The centre-half headed home City U18s’ second goal in a 4-1 victory to emulate the Manchester derby scoring exploits of his father, Uwe and was delighted with both a rare strike and an important three points.
“It’s a very proud moment for me,” he explained.
“I love beating United and it makes it a bit more special to get a goal as well.
“It’s a very good day and I think my dad will be delighted, but he’ll be surprised as I don’t get many!”
Rosler’s 28th minute goal put City ahead for the first time in the game, having trailed after Tahith Chong’s fifth minute strike.
Keke Simmonds hit back immediately for the Blues and added his second just before half-time, with Eric Garcia completing the scoring late on.
To the young defender’s frustration City conceded early again, but he was pleased with the response and pinpoints the impressive Simmonds’ instant equaliser as a crucial moment in the game.
“We’ve gone behind early a few times this season, but we never give up and always get back in the game.
“Keke’s equaliser was very important. It was a massive confidence boost and I never thought we were going to lose once we got that goal.
“He was very good today. He was a threat going forward and helped us out defensively with his hold up play when we were under pressure in the second half.”
It was not just Rosler’s goal which caught the eye.
Both he and fellow centre-half Garcia impressed in the second period when United dominated possession, but it was a credit to resolute work of the young duo that the opposition did not add to their tally.
However, despite a relatively comfortable winning margin, the 17-year-old says there is room for improvement and expects the Academy outfit to make better use of the ball.
“We could have played a lot better. We put ourselves under pressure by giving the ball away cheaply and by trying to score every time we went forward.
“We were under quite a bit of pressure in the second half but we dealt with it defensively. They didn’t have any big chances, but in terms of possession, they had a lot of the ball and we should have done better in that aspect.
“We wanted to keep the ball in the second half and take the sting out the game but we didn’t really do that and that’s something we need to learn from and improve on.”
