“I’m delighted with my hat-trick,” Ogunby told ManCity.com. “It’s always great to get some goals but for me it’s more important to help the team wherever I can.
“It was an excellent start for us, we couldn’t have asked for a better one – but as a team there are still lots of things we can work on together.”
Ogunby scored eight goals and created as many assists in the league last season, but he has his sights on reaching double figures for City over the new campaign.
“Of course I’ve got my targets for the season,” the 17-year-old added. “My aim is to get goals in the teens this season but I’m still focused on helping the team.
“Obviously it’d be great to hit that target but it’s just about aiming higher and higher for me.”
City finished second in the standings last season, just six points behind U18 PL Champions United. Ogunby believes that narrowly missing out on the top spot will install a stronger determination to succeed among his team mates.
“We took a bit of a dip last season, so results like this give us a massive boost. We all just want to remain as consistent as we possibly can and avoid that slip up like last year.
“There’s a great atmosphere in the changing room and around the building and we seem to be gelling well as a team.
“It looks like a great season ahead for us.
“With results like this [6-0 win over Newcastle] you have to put it to the back of your mind when you travel away, as different teams will have different set-ups and different players so we need to be wary of how other teams can perform against us.”
