Manchester City Academy midfielder, Tommy Doyle, underwent an operation on his foot last week following an injury sustained during the Under-17 Euros tournament.

Doyle was called up to the England Young Lions squad earlier in the month, but his time was cut short during the group stages when he broke the metatarsal bone in his foot.

The City starlet underwent surgery a few days later and tweeted a picture from his hospital bed stating that he was focused on his recovery.

Earlier in the tournament the 16-year-old scored the winning goal and also provided an assist during England’s 2-1 victory over Italy U17s.

Tommy has been a key player in Gareth Taylor’s Under-18s side throughout the season but also made his debut for Simon Davies’ Elite Development Squad and featured in City’s U19s in the Uefa Youth League competition.

We all wish Tommy the best with his recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch soon.
