City’s Academy side warmed up for the first leg of the FA Youth Cup final by securing winning their FA Premier Academy league group at the weekend.

The young Blues’ 5-0 win over Huddersfield, combined with results elsewhere, mean that City cannot be caught at the top of Group C and they will now face the winners of Group D in a play-off for the national title.

Goals from Abdi Ibrahim, Vladimir Weiss, David Ball and two from Alex Nimely-Tchuimeni will give the coaching staff a nice dilemma as they prepare for Thursday’s first leg at Stamford Bridge.

Academy manager Jim Cassell said, “Winning the group is a great reward for our consistent performances in the league this season. The week-in, week-out nature of the league is the bedrock of how we try to develop our players, but now we are fully focussed on the job in hand at Stamford Bridge this week.”

Entry to the game on Thursday, which kicks off at 7.00pm, is free to all.

City: Hartley(GK), Ramsey, Chantler, Boyata, Mee (Brown 66), Tutte, Weiss (Cieslewicz 66), Ibrahim, Ball (Morris 70), Nimley-Tchuimeni, Poole
