It was another young side put out by the Blues and they almost scored within the first 30 seconds, putting together a couple of quick passes before James Poole’s weak shot at the keeper.
Twenty minutes in City had been the better team against an experienced Blackpool line-up with at five players having played at first team level – including Keigan Parker and club captain Michael Jackson.
Two chances quickly followed for the Blues, firstly Ian Daly produced a great turn and shot out of nothing, bringing a save from Steinbors in the visitors’ goal.
Then after 26 minutes a fine move saw the classy Abdi Ibrahim waltz into the box, but his defensive nature took over, as he decided to pass instead of shoot when eight-yards out.
Within 10 minutes Blackpool’s first half chance of the game saw them take the lead. Stuart Green put in a great cross from the right and former Sunderland winger Andy Welsh met it with a well-taken left-footed volley on 35 minutes.
It might have been against the run of play, when Blackpool took the lead, but five minutes before the break City restored parity.
Another great passage of play involving Tsiaklis and Ibrahim saw the former slide a fine ball through for Ian Daly to coolly slot beyond the onrushing keeper.
City could have taken a deserved lead just two minutes later as the ball found its way to Chris Chantler but his strong left footed effort only found the nets high behind the goal at the Regional Athletics Arena.
The Tangerines came much more into the game in the second half and had knocked on the door a couple of times before Filip Mentel was called upon to turn a good drive from distance around the post.
Danny Penswick’s shot from distance came on 73 minutes and other than that the chances were few and far between during the second half.
Filippo Mancini, son of Inter Milan manager and former Leicester City player, Roberto made a late appearance at the end of the game but the game stayed level.
So a draw was a fair result in the end and City now face back-to-back games with Wrexham that could ultimately hold the key to their chances of winning the league.
