A young City reserve side have eased to victory in the latest Pontin's League encounter.

With the Under 18 side preparing for the first leg of the Youth Cup final and a Barclays Premier League reserve game having taken place on Tuesday night, today’s game against Morecambe was a chance for a few of our less well-known youngsters to impress Jim Cassell and the rest of the coaching staff.

A pair of goals from Jack Redshaw, plus one each from Gary Nolan and sub Lee Hulme helped put City out of reach before Morecambe grabbed a late consolation goal.

The win sees City leapfrog Morecambe into second place behind Preson North End, with the Blues still having a game in hand over the Lancashire outfit.
