City’s Under 18 side shook off the affects of the cold snap to return to action with a comprehensive friendly win over Rochdale.

A break in the league programme and the early onset of winter meant that Scott Sellars’ side had not seen any competitive action for nearly three weeks, but with the FA Youth Cup tie against Oldham rearranged for next Wednesday some valuable match practice was gained at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Harry Bunn continued his superb form with a hat-trick, opening the scoring in the 13th minute and doubling the lead with a fierce shot that went in off the underside of the bar shortly after.

Joan Angel Roman got in on the act after 19 minutes as the floodgates opened with a wonderful solo run and deft finish, and he added a second after 38.

Former City reserve and Academy coach Frank Bunn watched his son unselfishly lay on an easy chance for Paul Clowes to see the Blues go in 5-0 up at the break. Harry bagged his hat-trick early in the second half, and although City did not add any more goals a host of substitutions ensured that City have a few options for the visit to Boundary Park, weather permitting, next week.

City:  Karius (Halsall), Coulsen, Meppen Walter, Kennedy, Veseli (T Skogsrud), Clowes, Drury, Evans (K Skogsrud), Bunn Hippias), Angel Roman (Ruznak), Henshall (Robinson).
