Promising winger Alex Henshall has joined the City Academy from Swindon Town.

16-year-old Alex is one of the country’s most highly rated players in his age group, playing for the England Under 16 side last season as well as being named on the bench for Swindon’s first team by Robins’ manager Danny Wilson on several occasions.

He is pictured on the right after one of his two substitute appearances in the Victory Shield, and he started against Belgium for the England Under 16s last February.

Henshall joined Swindon as an eight-year old and his subsequent progress saw the club offer him a four-year contract when he was 12.

City’s Head of the Academy Mark Allen has welcomed Alex’s arrival at the club by saying,

“We are delighted to welcome Alex to the Academy. He will provide excellent balance on the left hand side of the field and is an exciting addition to our existing group of players. We are looking forward to helping him develop even further following on from the good start to his career he had at Swindon Town.”
