City kick off their FA Youth Cup campaign in the third round against Sunderland at Edgeley Park, home of Stockport County FC on Wednesday night at 7pm.

In a repeat of the 2008 semi-final, City face the Black Cats looking to go deep in a competition they’ve won on two occasions.

Adam Sadler will have a strong pool of players to select a squad from, with the younger members of the EDS, such as Olivier Ntcham, Jose Angel Pozo and Marcos Lopes expected to step down and help the Blues.

City went out of the FA Youth Cup to Fulham last season after a 2-1 defeat at Hyde denied them a place in the last eight of the competition.

Back in 2008, City narrowly defeated Sunderland with a side that included Dedryck Boyata, Ryan McGivern and Daniel Sturridge.

Former Middlesbrough defender Craig Liddle manages Sunderland U18s who are currently in third place in National Group 2 of the Barclays U18 Premier League.

You can pay at the gate, with entry costing £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
