The young Blues ensured their progress to the last sixteen with a fine 4-1 win away to Swindon Town, but the west London outfit went one better by beating Peterborough 5-1.
Fulham’s Academy side had already overcome Carlisle United 3-1 in the cup, and are currently top of Group A in the Barclays Premier Academy League. Managed by former City player Kit Symons, now also part of Chris Coleman’s set-up with the Welsh national side, Fulham were edged to the national Academy League title by Everton last season.
City’s leading scorer in the competition so far is Jordi Hiwula (pictured below), whose four goals including the hat-trick that went a long way to giving the Blues a 4-1 win over Corby Town in the third round in November. Hiwula is one of several Academy players to step up into the Elite Development Squad of late, and his clincher in last week’s Manchester Senior Cup derby was his 19th in all competitions so far this season.
The cold snap claimed both sides’ league fixtures last weekend, and City will be keen to make the most of home advantage at Ewen Fields, with the winners of the tie due to be at home to Burnley in the quarter finals.
Admission will be just £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, with the game kicking off at 7pm – please come on down, the lads will appreciate your support!
