City under-15s are upbeat about their chances in Monday's opening fixture against Vasco da Gama.

City Academy coach Darren Bowman believes that the under-15s have “nothing to fear” when they come up against Brazilian side Vasco da Gama in the Blues’ first match of the Lion City Cup on Monday.

“As you would expect Brazilian players are technically good, they have good ball retention and possession but from our point of view we have nothing to fear.

“I think we’ve identified our strengths against their weaknesses and hopefully it will be a good game.”

Vasco got off to the perfect start against Singapore on match day one, beating the hosts 2-1 to go top of Group B.

Their coach Sergio Bello had declared that his side had arrived at the tournament with the intention of taking home the trophy but after watching the Brazilians in action, Darren feels that City have every right to be positive ahead of the encounter.
