Read how Lee Carsley's side fared against Middlesbrough at Rockliffe Park...

What happened...

City stretched their unbeaten run in the U18 Premier League to nine matches with a 4-0 victory at Middlesbrough.

Goals from Matt Smith and the returning Lukas Nmecha were enough to put Lee Carsley‘s side in command at a blustery Rockliffe Park before a late Phil Foden brace sealed the win.

Dynamic midfielder Matt Smith opened the scoring within the first five minutes as City were yet again were quick out of the blocks.

Lukas Nmecha doubled City’s lead midway through the first half after some excellent work in midfield by Phil Foden.

Nmecha, often first choice for Simon Davies’ Premier League 2 side this season, was given a start in order to speed up his recovery from injury and he proved just how sharp he is with this instinctive finish.

City were enjoying a comfortable second half until the 66th minute when Jadon Sancho saw red and City were reduced to 10 men.

Although City may have been forgiven for retreating into their defensive shell after that setback, it only spurred them on with A late Phil Foden brace sealing the three points and rounding off an emphatic win for the Blues.
