What happened…

City U18s produced a second half comeback to beat Newcastle United in their first game of the U18 Premier League North Division.

Nabil Touaizi equalised for the Blues in the 60th minute before Henri Ogubny struck seven minutes from the end to secure the three points.

The first half was a close affair with both sides creating chances to go ahead.

City attacked well and came close on a few occasions but couldn’t find a way past the Newcastle goalkeeper.

The deadlock was broken six minutes before the break when the hosts managed to grab a goal to give them the advantage heading into half time.

Taylor’s side responded well to going behind and started the second half positively, drawing level in the 60th minute.

Tommy Doyle swung a corner into the area and Nabil Touaizi rose highest to nod home to level the score.

The Blues continued to apply the pressure to the Newcastle defence and their efforts were rewarded late on.

Seven minutes from full time, Henri Ogunby applied the finish to seal the comeback to ensure that City would return to Manchester with all three points.

What it means…

The three points gets the Blues off to a great start in the U18 Premier League North Division ahead of next weekend’s game against Wolves.

Key moment

Touaizi’s equaliser from Doyle’s corner proved to be the catalyst for the victory as the momentum shifted towards City before Ogunby struck late on to secure the three points.

Henri Ogunby - The 16-year old put in a solid performance before grabbing the winner in the 83rd minute.

Pawel Sokol started in goal behind a back four of Jeremie Frimpong, Eric Garcia, Nathaniel Ogbeta and Ryan Corrigan.

Iker Pozo, Henri Ogunby, Tommy Doyle, Nabil Touaizi and Felix Nmecha made up the midfield while Keyendrah Simmonds led the line for City.
