City Under 18s’ clash against Liverpool Under 18s ended in a 1-1 draw despite the Blues going down to 10 men late in the second half.

An early goal from Liam Millar gave the Reds the lead in the first half, but Keke Simmonds grabbed one back to seal a point for Gareth Taylor’s side.

However, after two yellow cards Iker Pozo was send off in the closing minutes of the game.

What happened

It certainly was a game of two halves as Liverpool opened the game with threat and took control of the first, with Millar converting Eddie Tagseth’s pass in the 13th minute.

But, Taylor’s side returned after half-time hungry and ready to bite back - and it took 15 minutes of play to do so.

Simmonds was on hand to level up the score, and managed to fire the ball into Kamil Grabara’s net.

City continued to press-on throughout the second half, but the Blues were unable to secure the three points.

Having picked up an earlier yellow from the referee, Poko saw red after he second bookable offence and was dismissed just a few minutes before the final whistle.

What does it mean

City remain at the top of the U18s Northern Premier League table on 22 points, having won seven, drawn one and lost one game.
