City Under-18s maintained their challenge at the top of the Premier League U18s table with a convincing win over Wolves at Compton Park.
Leaders Liverpool won 6-1 at Blackburn earlier this morning to initially increase their lead to four points, but the Blues responded in kind by thrashing Wolves in a similar manner.
Though the hosts held firm for the first half-hour, a flurry of goals before the break effectively ended the contest.
Ian Carlo Poveda opened the scoring on 32 minutes and Keke Simmonds doubled the Blues’ lead on 40.
Nabil Touaizi made it three on the stroke of half-time to put Gareth Taylor’s side firmly in command.
The Blues added further goals after the break with a 70th-minute Eric Garcia effort an Iker Pozo penalty five minutes from time rounding off the Blues’ biggest away win of the season.
Taylor’s side now sit one point behind Liverpool with a game in hand and the Reds still to visit the CFA
