City suffered their third league defeat of the season after former Blue, Bobby Duncan, sealed the three points for the Reds with a last-minute strike.
What happened
With seven points separating second-placed Liverpool and fifth-placed City before the clash, Gareth Taylor’s side knew it would be a test as they travelled to the Reds’ academy.
City found it difficult to move out of their own half in the opening 10 minutes, but once we found our rhythm the chances followed.
Attempts from Cole Palmer, Jayden Braaf and Taylor Harwood-Bellis presented our best chances in the first half of the game, but none of our City youngsters could find the target.
Later in the game, Joe Hodge tried his luck from 25 yards out but, like our previous shots, it drifted wide of Jaros’ post.
The game was an even encounter and it looked as though the scoreline would reflect that as the game drew to a close.
But Duncan, who earlier missed his chance, made no mistake when he was left unmarked in the box in the 90th minute.
Duncan fired home past Louie Moulden and snatched the three points for Liverpool.
To add insult to injury, Rowan McDonald picked up his second yellow card in the final minute of the game and was shown red.
